Sec 2 Ho Chi Minh City Trip 2026
Trips for Internationalisation Experience: Ho Chi Minh City
Our TIE experience in Ho Chi Minh City was an eye-opening journey that deepened our understanding of Vietnam’s culture, history, and development. A key objective was to strengthen our civic and global literacy by exploring different perspectives, particularly Vietnam’s past and rapid progress. This encouraged reflection on resilience, peace, and ASEAN interconnectedness.
The structured itinerary combined educational and cultural activities. We visited the War Remnants Museum, gaining insight into the impact of war, and explored landmarks like the Saigon Post Office and Reunification Palace, which highlighted Vietnam’s blend of colonial history and modern identity. At the Cu Chi Tunnels, we learned about the resilience and resourcefulness of the Vietnamese people, while a water puppet show introduced us to traditional art forms.
We also engaged with local students at the Einstein School and High School of the Gifted, exchanging perspectives and forming meaningful connections. These interactions helped us step out of our comfort zones and appreciate both similarities and differences. Our visit to the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) further showed the importance of strong economic ties, modern infrastructure, and collaboration between countries.
Beyond academics, we toured a cocoa farm to learn about chocolate production and tried pottery-making, which many of us especially enjoyed. We also visited the Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine, where we explored healthcare practices rooted in cultural beliefs.
Overall, the trip was both educational and personally enriching, fostering empathy, cultural awareness, and stronger friendships among students and teachers.
