Chinese New Year Celebration 2026
On 16 February 2026, Crescent Girls’ School came alive with a vibrant Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration. Instead of the usual pale-yellow uniforms, a sea of bright red greeted us, filling the campus with festive cheer. The excitement was especially palpable for the Secondary 1 students, as it was one of our first major celebrations in the school.
We began the day in our classrooms, watching an engaging and humorous video about the origins of CNY. The amusingly illustrated characters had us laughing throughout. This was followed by lively rounds of Kahoot and Blooket, which wrapped up our form teachers’ interaction time on a high note.
During recess, parent volunteers treated us to an array of delicious snacks, including shrimp rolls, pineapple tarts, and fortune cookies. There were also crowd favourites like nacho chips with cheese and popcorn. A special highlight was the appearance of the God of Fortune (Cai Shen Ye), portrayed by a parent volunteer, who delighted everyone by handing out chocolate coins.
The celebration culminated in the CNY Concert at the school hall. Performances by the Angklung and Kulintang CCA, Choir CCA, Dance CCA, teachers, and international students captivated the audience. The lion dance thrilled the crowd with its powerful drumming and skilful movements, while a vibrant dragon dance added to the excitement. The atmosphere was electric, and the celebration was truly a memorable success for all.
